Self-Assessments Pt 2

Projects appreciated during my bachelors
Prompt 1:
My top 5 values are growth, wisdom, loyalty, leadership and wealth. When I was choosing my values the characteristics I associated with them was having maturity and having influence. As I kept crossing off values the last and final one I had to represent me was wisdom. Wisdom gets you far in life; In this activity I learned I am a true leader with a dignity and humbleness.
Prompt 2:
My main area of identity is leadership, My core values for leadership are being helpful because I’m always ready to help someone. When you are a leader you have to be ready at all times to help. You also have to be ready to inspire. Whenever you have a role that people look up to you inspire through your actions, your story and your visions. Last but not least you must be good at encouraging because people need it at all times from someone they trust.
Prompt 3:
My underlining meaning I discovered through exploring my dreams and desires is making a difference. I truly just desire to see change and growth for others as well as myself. It is important to make a difference to me because it represents you finding your purpose for the better. What it means to me when I say making a difference is truly making a situation better than it once was.
Prompt 4:
The way I view the world is complex yet simple, it’s all about what you can do to make income and opportunity to survive. But at the same time you must follow Gods word and way of life for us so that makes it complex. I relate to democrats because I came from hard times and I understand what poverty goes through. I relate to republicans because I’m good with making opportunity for myself and maintaining a drive so I may succeed for my family. Plus I’m into making my own business so that gives us things to relate to as well. My abilities to be effective is being able to communicate with anyone and understanding how to win in a room full of vultures.
Three Questions - Week 1 discussion topic:
I learn organizations can be a school, office, sports team, political party and etc. People behaviors determines of the structure of the organization, for example if you work for ford selling cars your behavior would be different from if you worked at McDonald’s. I remember from the movie “Remember the Titans” who had students from different backgrounds, but the organization was still able to come and meet on common ground for the future sake of the students. In response organizations it is all about what works and why it does not work.
I can apply concepts I have learned to my organizational life because I have been through different experiences. Organizations remind me of traditional families who fixed themselves to choose people that will make it functional and successful. I can apply what I learned in my personal life by controlling my anger, so the people I love know I love them and value what they say. The concepts I’ve learned can also show in my personal life because organizations are all about goals, in my family we have people with different purposes, roles and goals. So if I ever have a question or need help I select a family member who would make a good fit/help to what I need.
I scored nine on the structural section, nine on human resources, 21 on political and 21 for symbolic. I tied with both low scores and high score which I thought was pretty funny. My weakness according to the self-test is I lack in human resources and structural. I agree with this because for human resource I don’t do well with caring for someone’s feelings. My thought on the world is they don’t like you, or their job and would like to see you fail. Forcing me not to care because I feel like nobody cares about me. I can get why I have the same both symbolic and political because I’m a leader who understands how to win. But you must always be wise in your energy or your words will turn into arrogance and ignorance.
Cell phone use is becoming very popular in the schools to the point where there are multiple arguments on what schools should do with them. One argument is said that teachers should embrace cellphone use in the classroom. For example, they should have students google search things that go with the lesson, so it becomes more flexible and fun as a classroom. But other teachers and administrations feel that the cellphone should be taking away before they enter class and given back at the end of the class. This is a similar case that they now do at comedy shows for people with big names. They now have it to where your cellphone is taking from each person in the audience, so you can have their undivided attention. A lot of teachers like that idea so their classrooms can be in the teachers control again.
Feeding Families
This started as a team project class assignment but i took as an opportunity to make it something big and direct it in the way it should go. We contacted a boys and girls club for the families who need help. We hosted the event there with those families. We raised 600 dollars. Feed the guest great and gave their families gifts.
(below the flyer is a quick video of the process)!
